New SD Veterans Home Awaits Governor’s Signature

March 16, 2010 in Veterans News by Editor

The state Legislature gave near unanimous support to the idea of building a nursing home for military veterans in eastern South Dakota.

The 50-bed nursing home would be built under a partnership in which the federal government and a private company would share construction costs. The private company would later run the facility.

Supporters say it would be convenient for East River veterans who don’t want to leave family to live in the state’s only other veterans home in Hot Springs.

The bill awaits the signature of the governor, who supported its introduction in the Legislature.
